A Wall To Crash Into
Oh dear me. I've so lost my muse. Apparently Kit and my idea of writing a page a day isn't what it's cracked up to be because honestly... I've no idea what this is...

Title: Furry Guy

It was christened 'Furry Guy' for its first week on Atlantis, compliments of Lieutenant Ford. John willingly embraced the name for his new pet, despite Dr. Beckett's continual reminder that the small creature was, in fact, covered with soft feathers not fur.

A cross between a cat and a miniature bear in appearance, it wasn't much for movement and certainly not limber when it got around to plodding through the hallways. With its dark grey coloring – though it had shockingly bright blue eyes – it often went unnoticed by anyone passing whatever corner it had curled up in.

They supposed it had found its way into Atlantis by means of a puddle jumper on an off-world expedition, but no one could recall seeing a similar creature on any of the planets, and couldn't be sure it hadn't originated in the city to begin with.

It had no purpose, as far as anyone could tell, and seemed just as content eating bits of ration bars as it did with greens the Athosians thought to try.

When it wasn't sleeping, it tended to follow John around, making a pitifully loud mewling sound whenever it awoke to find him gone. While it was tranquil enough around others, it only allowed his touch, and John was often seen lugging it in one arm as he went about his business.

Much to Elizabeth's dismay, after a meeting in which Furry Guy sniffed his way around the entirety of her office, it claimed the room as its own.

Whether territorial of its new home, or purely picky in its choice of friends, it disliked her, and though it refused to be anything but passive when someone else was around, Elizabeth swore it growled.

It was not uncommon for John to lock it in his room only to have Elizabeth on the intercom a few hours later curtly informing him that his pet – she liked to spit the word – was asleep in her chair and would he please come remove it. Immediately.

After the day she found Furry Guy sleeping comfortably on her laptop where he remained for four hours while John was tracked down, Elizabeth demanded he take the animal to the mainland. Carson declared it safe enough to offer as a pet for the Athosian children, provided it took to one of them. Elizabeth declined to be part of the delivery team.

"You were jealous," he tells her that night when he stops by her doorway after successfully transferring Furry Guy to the Athosian camp. "Admit it."

She laughs, raises an eyebrow. "That I didn't have one? Please, Major."

"You were jealous," he says again with a grin, "because it didn't like you."

"That was hardly my concern."

He waits.

"It was a distraction," she points out.

He nods, still silent.

Elizabeth shrugs. "I don't know what you're getting at."

"We found another one," he says simply, then reaches around the corner and deposits it on her floor with a wink. "This one's for you."

Hee! Funny flashfic, flashy funfic, I like :-)

I friended you, because, you know, Atlantis, Farscape, fic, icons, Jane Austen, etc.
Hope you don't mind!

Hee! Thank you. :D

And dude, DUDE, am so in love with your icon. *bg, hearts Aeryn*

Will friend you back, if 'tis okay, for I've not done nearly enough Atlantis friending and will likely have withdrawl pangs without someone on m'flist talking about it. ;)

Hee! I =love= Aeryn. Heck, I love Farscape. They go so far beyond anything anyone else has ever dared, and yet they stay true to the characters through it all. I started catching up with it last December, and have been more in awe with just about every episode. Love it! :-)
And that icon must be my all time favourite, ever :-)
The colours, the composition, the subject.. perfect :-)
When I finally do get my hands on my new cellphone, this will -so- be the wallpaper & screensaver on there! :-)

As for Atlantis, well, I'm dependent on downloads & what people send me on cdr/dvdr, cos they don't air Atlantis where I am atm (Australia) or where I usually live (Holland). And I'll be damned if I have to wait for the DVD release!
So.Not.Happening!
I will buy them the second they're released, but I wanna see the eps a little sooner than that ;-)
But I've been on a Farscape binge, so I haven't posted much about Atlantis recently. I tend to watch my tv shows in clumps: a couple of episodes of SG1, a couple of episodes of NCIS, a couple of episodes of Atlantis, an entire series of Farscape ;-)
I'm due for a batch of Atlantis, so I will post soon :-)

Anyways, I'd best get back to work ;-)

I started catching up with it last December, and have been more in awe with just about every episode.

I never watched the series with any dedication while it was on... but the mini-series brought it all back, and then I lost all sense and bought the DVD boxsets. *coughs* But oh, so the love. It's so out there, the continuity is excellent, the character development is phenomenal, and even the in-jokes manage to stay fresh and funny. *hearts*

cos they don't air Atlantis where I am atm (Australia) or where I usually live (Holland)

Eeek! I couldn't even wait for them all to air over here (US) so already downloaded them all. ;) If you ever need episodes of Atlantis or SG1 next season, let me know... since I get them bittorrent I can fit about 10 episodes on one DVD disc (which you can play on your computer through Windows Media Player), so it'd be fairly cheap to send international. :)

And LOL, livejournal at work... you're as bad as me. ;P

I never watched the series with any dedication while it was on...

I think I caught two eps when it was on in Holland.. at impossible times (midnight on weeknights & stuff). And it didnt' make sense to me at all anyway, so I didn't bother.

but the mini-series brought it all back

For me it was the fact that Claudia Black had done an ep of SG-1, and the news that Ben Browder was gonna be in season 9 of SG-1. And the fact that I have several friends spread over several fandoms, who don't know each other at all, and they all just kept raving about it. So I gave in and bought the season 1 boxset on sale... and bought the rest of them soon after ;-)

and then I lost all sense and bought the DVD boxsets. *coughs*

Ouch! I bought them at 60US$ a piece (region 4), but I know they're =much= more expensive in region 1 and 2. I looked at those, and felt the extras weren't worth the 40US$ difference per boxset.
I know I will give in and buy the region 1 or 2 sets anyway at some point. Must.Have.Pretty.Specials.and.Deleted.Scenes.and.Blooper.Reels.
Addicted much? ;-)

But oh, so the love. It's so out there, the continuity is excellent, the character development is phenomenal, and even the in-jokes manage to stay fresh and funny. *hearts*

*Nods nods nods*

I =love= the angst, although I'm pretty sure that if I'd had watched the show when it first aired, I wouldn't have gotten through season 3, =ever=! I marathoned through that season in a weekend ;-)
It's like reading this book that's drawn you in completely an you just can't put it down :-)

Eeek! I couldn't even wait for them all to air over here (US) so already downloaded them all. ;)

I got a bunch of eps from the first half of the season sent to me on CDR and DVDR, but my DVD-rom has trouble reading those DVDRs.. I think.. It could've been the old DivX codec that was killing the whole thing, or just the frelled up WinXP on my poor lappie..
Anyways, I also managed to download most of the eps from the second half of the season, but not all.

If you ever need episodes of Atlantis or SG1 next season, let me know... since I get them bittorrent I can fit about 10 episodes on one DVD disc

Cool! Muchly appreciated! I'll let you know when, where, and what ;-)
I signed up for Easynews again. It's a web-interface to the newsgroups, and they retain up to 30 days of newsgroup posts. Which include entire eps of just about any show imaginable. It's a bit of work, finding 35-60 files that make up one episode, and unpacking them once you download them, but it's worth it.
The only drawback is that eps aren't released as fast as on bittorrent, and if the ep you're looking for has been posted more than 30 days ago, there's no way you'll be able to get it.
And you need a fast, stable, reliable internet connection, which is lacking in my fancy apartment.. It's connected, it can be very fast, but is far far far from reliable...

(which you can play on your computer through Windows Media Player)

If you have a DVD-rom, which I got for the lappie only 6 months ago, so I'm good on that :-)

And LOL, livejournal at work... you're as bad as me. ;P

Work has been beyond mind-numbing these past few weeks.. and they really can't expect me to be 100% productive for 10hrs a day ;-)

the news that Ben Browder was gonna be in season 9 of SG-1

Can't even tell you how dead of the squee I was when I first read that. And then news of Claudia joining for five epis and my poor dead body couldn't even twitch.

Addicted much?

*raises hand* It's why I'm broke. ;)

Oh, very cool, hadn't heard of them before. Am always looking for alternatives in case *dreads* bittorrent gets kicked. Easynews, huh? *writes it down*

LOL! It's not usually the sort of thing I like to write, so can't guarantee there will be more, but then again I've been on a kick of randomness lately... :D
